Skip the Artificial Sweeteners, DIY Natural Sodas

Folks, I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid putting things into my body that could make me feel bad, especially if it could potentially lead to illness.  I’m talking about all those artificial sweeteners in our diet drinks and other ‘sugar-free’ foods.  I would rather avoid headaches, irritability, joint pain, and all the other symptoms that have been linked with artificial sweeteners.

The good news is that there IS a natural sweetener out there, native to The America’s, and it’s called Stevia.  It is 300 times sweeter than sugar and you can grow in your backyard!

Stevia comes in powder or liquid form and you can get it in a variety of flavors (like chocolate, vanilla, and cream soda) so you can replace sugar and artificial sweeteners in cooking.  Just make sure to read all labels to be sure there are no hard to pronounce ingredients such as rebiana or erythritol.

Natural Soda Recipes

*Add the stevia first and essential oils as you’re filling up the pitcher. This way it stirs itself. Some of the oils rise to the top, but the flavor goes through all the water.  I use only pure, therapeutic grade essential oils in recipes.  To learn more about the essential oils I choose to use, click here.

*Substitute filtered water for club soda if you want an even healthier drink.  Carbonation can be acidic to the body.
