A Healthy Halloween Treat

This is my absolute favorite time of year!  There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are turning beautiful shades of red, yellow, and orange, and Halloween is just around the corner.  People are putting together fun costumes and gearing up for Trick-or-Treating and Halloween parties.

The problem is, with so many sugary treats at our fingertips, it can sometimes be difficult not to go overboard.  Why not offer folks a Halloween treat that’s good for  them?  This low-glycemic, low-calorie, popcorn infused with Cinnamon essential oil and the protective blend will be the hit at your party.

The best part of serving this popcorn recipe to your guests is you can feel great knowing that they’re getting the immune supporting benefits of the essential oils!

*Tip: Prepare goodie bags ahead of time for your guests to take home: fill cellophane bags with the popcorn and tie a copy of the recipe to the bag.

 INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup unrefined coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 5-6 drops Protective Blend
  • 2-3 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil
  • ground cinnamon to taste

salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:  

Air pop the popcorn and place in a large mixing bowl. Melt the coconut oil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the maple syrup and essential oils. Pour maple syrup mixture over the popcorn and mix well. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and a touch of salt.  Mix thoroughly and enjoy!
