Why I Gave Up on Natural Health (and What Brought Me Back to it)

Whatever the reason, I’m glad you’re here because natural health CAN be simple when you pick the right tools. In today’s episode I share why I quick natural health, what brought me back to it, and a few tips that I use myself that can help you take action and feel confident about fitting natural health into your busy schedule (and actually sticking with it!).

I remember when I decided to start using natural options for my health.  I was under some stress at work and working long hours.  I wanted something to help me focus at work, have more energy during the day, curb sugar cravings, de-stress, manage my moods, and calm the anxious and busy thoughts at night to get more restful sleep.

So, I started trying out different natural things to take care of my health and nothing seemed to work.  I remember getting frustrated because there are SO many natural options out there and I had ZERO time to research it all.

I tried everything….tinctures, herbal remedies, acupuncture….nothing seemed to work.  So I ended up just giving up on the whole thing.  Because of my busy schedule and how complicated everything seemed…

…I simply couldn’t stick with it.

WHY IS THAT?  It’s because I hadn’t found anything that was SIMPLE to use and that actually worked.

WHAT BROUGHT ME BACK TO USING NATURAL OPTIONS?  ESSENTIAL OILS!

Fast forward a few months….

…One day my sister came to visit and she noticed I was “in a mood.”  I explained to her that I was under some stress and working a ton. She asked if she could put an essential oil on me to help calm me down…

…I have to admit that I was skeptical, but I decided to humor her and give it a try.  I knew that even if it didn’t help, at least it was made from plants.  She told me to rub it on my temples and the back of my neck, then breathe it in from my palms…  

…Within 30 seconds, I felt calmer, more grounded and happier.  I was so impressed with the results I was having and how incredibly easy essential oils were to fit into my busy schedule.  that I became passionate about telling as many people as possible so that I can help them too.  

Over the last 6 years I’ve helped 100’s of people just like YOU easily incorporate essential oils into their everyday busy lives.

BUT NOT JUST ANY ESSENTIAL OILS…

By now you’ve probably seen essential oils everywhere.  They’re pretty popular these days.  But with that popularity comes a lot of low quality oils.  Many are synthetic or diluted and you just never know what is in there.  They can legally stamp 100% pure on the bottle even if it’s 90% vegetable oil and only 10% essential oil.  

You may have even tried some essential oils out and didn’t get the results you were hoping for. That’s because you need to have oils that are guaranteed to have a specific naturally occurring chemical profile in order for you to get results consistently for your health needs.   

The whole point is to be able to fit natural health into your busy life right? So the way to do this is to take out the guess work by making sure to use a really high quality line of essential oils.

SO, WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

They’re extracts from plants.  They come from different parts of plants and are either steam distilled or cold pressed.

They’re highly concentrated.  One drop of peppermint essential oil is equivalent to 28 cups of peppermint tea.

One essential oil can have hundreds of naturally occuring chemical compounds which means they can have hundreds of different therapeutic benefits for your health.

HOW TO USE THEM…

AROMATIC

Add a few drops to a diffuser or breathe from palms. Uplifts the mood, calms the mind, helps with focus, aids sleep.  Cleanse the air and open airways for better breathing.

TOPICAL 

Apply directly on the skin or mix with carrier oils or other personal care products.
Apply on location (temples and back of neck for head pain, on stomach for digestion, or anywhere you have pain or tension). Use a carrier oil for dilution with “hot” oils or for people with sensitive skin, young children, or elderly.

INTERNAL

For targeted wellness of the internal systems, digestive tract, etc. Add to beverages, take in Veggie Caps, or use in your favorite recipes.

ALL YOU NEED ARE A FEW BASIC OILS TO GET GOING…

There are a few basic oils that I recommend for a simple start to natural health.  I’m going to cover 6 of them here and then I’ll go into more detail on how to use them in future episodes. 

Lemon – Cleansing, revitalizing, uplifting.  Have you been looking for something for green cleaning, managing your mood, calming anxious feelings, and cooking?  This is an oil for you.

Lavender – Soothing and calming to the mind and the skin.  Have you been looking for something to help you get better rest at night and de-stress?  You need this oil.

Peppermint – Cooling, energizing, natural bug repellent, digestive aid.

Melaleuca (aka tea tree) – Soothing, cleansing to the body and the skin.  Great for occasional blemishes and skin irritations.  Great for the respiratory system and the immune system.

Frankincense – Renewing, beautifying, rejuvenating, grounding.  Great for the mind and the skin.  Anti-aging.

Oregano – Cleansing and purifying.  Great for Italian dishes. You need this oil if you want help with digestive and immune health. 

So, it turns out that it CAN be simple to incorporate natural health into your busy life and to stick with it.  If you want actual results, then essential oils are the way to go.
