Insects, such as mosquitoes and ticks can transmit diseases. It’s important to protect yourself and your kids so that you don’t become a feeding frenzy for insects or risk becoming a carrier for pathogens.
Back in March I traveled to Southern India for a month and the only bug repellent I brought with me was a blend of essential oils.
My friends (those who haven’t gotten on the natural wellness band wagon – some people are just set in their ways I guess) thought I was crazy to go to the muggy jungles of India without “proper bug spray.” But I didn’t worry, knowing full well from experience that this blend has worked for me in even the thickest fog of mosquitoes and against ticks.
What those naysayers don’t understand, and what the bug spray companies don’t tell us, is that most bug repellents found on the market contain a chemical known as DEET, which has known toxic effects.
The safer choice is to go with a blend of essential oils. Studies have shown that essential oils, such as eucalyptus, citronella, and lemongrass are highly effective at repelling biting bugs.
